Iași, 16th of May 2016. The anniversary edition of the "Continental Electro – Mobility" Student Competition had a novelty: the members of the teams that made it to the podium were offered employment contracts within Continental Iaşi. In the 10 years of competition, 331 teams registered to compete.

57 teams registered for this year's edition, and the best 25 competed in the finals that took place on the 14th and 15th of May. Teams from Bucharest and Cluj participated, for the first time ever, in "Continental Electro – Mobility".

„It was a successful anniversary edition. We noticed a great improvement in projects in comparison with last year, the intermediary assessment stages surely helped. We are glad that we are able to offer to students the possibility of participating in this competition, which will help them in their future career. This year as well we have seen many talented and passionate students and we wish them success moving forward, and as for the winners in the top three places, our future co-workers, we await them at Continental to sign contracts“, stated Marian Petrescu, manager of the Iaşi Continental facility.

Just like last year, registered teams built electric cars formed from a four part system:
- Control of two brushless electrical motors;
- Control of steering that was electrically assisted steering by a motor;
- Data transfer in the vehicle's control systems;
- Implementation of Client – Server communication.

The winning team was „Mecatronicii“of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, of the "Gheorghe Asachi" Technical University of Iaşi: Stanciu Florin, Movileanu Florin Ionuț, Scripcaru Mihai , team coordinated by associate professor Radu Drosescu.

„This year we've participated for the first time in this competition and we've had a great time. It seems like simple ideas always give good results. We are very proud to have maintained our title even during the special challenges, particularly against the car built by the Continental team“, stated the members of the winning team.

The winning team received 1.100 de euro, 800 de euro went to the second place team and 500 de euro– went to the third place team.
