Iaşi, 28th of April 2012 – Continental Automotive Iaşi, subsidiary of the Continental Corporation, one of the most important suppliers in the automotive industry, opened its gates to visitors on the 28th of April. The event, reaching its 6th edition, is focused on students, through the Student Competition, but it is also focused on professionals in the software, hardware and mechanics fields, who wish to know the challenges and novelties offered by the global automotive industry, with two main activities: The Student Competition - students of the technical and digital profile, willing to show off their knowledge and respond to an interesting technical challenge, which contributes to their training for a successful career and the Engineering Show.

In December 2012, Continental proposed to the students of technical faculties from Iaşi, Suceava, Bacău, Galaţi and Chişinău a new thinking topic under the name "ElectroMobility 2". After the review of proposed projects, 20 teams were accepted, out of which 12 were from the Gh. Asachi Technical University of Iaşi, 3 teams from the Technical University of Moldova from Chișinău, 4 from the Ştefan cel Mare Technical University of Suceava and one team from the Dunărea de Jos University of Galaţi. All participating teams received from the organizer two BLDC motors, but also financial support amounting to 80 EURO for the project development.

Winning teams:

IInd place - team no. 11 in the competition - MCULabs - Moldova Technical University, Chișinău, Faculty of Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics. Team members: Podlesnîi Bogdan, Babaian Alexandru, Gordienco Sergiu, Trocin Caterina. Coordinating teacher: Bragarenco Andrei.
IIIrd place - team no. 12 in the competition - RCL Team - "Ştefan cel Mare" Technical University of Suceava, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Team members: Boghi Constantin, Pănută Roman, Chistol Roman, Levinta Leonid. Coordinating teacher: Cezar Dumitru Popa.
Special prizes: three special prizes were awarded for the following categories:
Best motor control and car functions – team no. 4 - BIMA-GL - Dunărea de Jos University, Galaţi, Faculty of Automatic Control, Computers, Electrical Engineering and Electronics. Continental offered prizes of a total amount of 2700 euro: Ist place - 1100 euro, IInd place – 800 euro, IIIrd place - 500 euro as well as special prizes amounting to 300 euro.
